Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing a wide variety of accounting related tasks including, general ledger accounting, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, month-end close, and internal financial reporting. Additionally, this position will work closely with the finance team, external auditors and other business partners to create processes and procedures to ensure timely preparation and analysis of financial statements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in month-end close, including accruals, analysis, account reconciliations, allocations, and journal entries
- Analyze, book and forecast revenue. Includes verifying revenue recognition plans in accordance with ASC 606
- Participate in planning/forecasting cycles for all assigned accounts, including management reporting
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
- Responsible for processing royalties, including creating and sending/mailing statements, processing payments, providing variance analysis, resolve discrepancies and researching issues
- Assist with sales tax bills and processing payments
- Supports internal and external information requests, including royalty and vendor inquiries, banking, tax, and audit
- Manage companies travel program
- Provide back-up support for processing of accounts payable invoices, including review of invoices with proper G/L account coding and preparing check/ACH payment runs
- Monitor and review account activity for adherence to company policies and accounting controls
- Assist in treasury/banking activities, which may including bank account reconciliations, debt compliance reporting, and resolution of reconciliation issues
- Participate in year-end 1099 preparation
- Defines and develops reporting responsive to customer or author requests and interprets reports for management
- Lead or participate in process improvements, department projects, or system enhancements
- Maintains orderly, accurate and complete documentation in support of assigned work responsibilities and retention requirements for appropriate tax, government and other regulatory offices
- Assist in developing, documenting and updating policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA/CMA highly preferred
- Public accounting - audit experience preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years progressive experience in general ledger accounting
- Experience with ERP software (NetSuite preferred) & revenue management system (NetSuite ARM preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills in addition to experience with PowerPoint and Word
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of balance sheet, cash flow, profit and loss accounting and reporting, and GAAP requirements
- Ability to be an effective problem solver with strong investigative and analytical skills
- Proven ability to effectively manage time, prioritize workload, and handle multiple tasks
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with employees of all levels within the organization
- Independently driven with the ability to work as part of a team
- Must take initiative, be self-motivated, be dependable with a positive, energetic approach
- Ability to maintain a professional manner and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Desire to grow and expand abilities
