Business Development Manager

Barbri seeks an experienced Manager of Business Development (MBD) to identify new business opportunities, both for cross-selling opportunities and for net new B2B partners, in order to expand Barbri’s market reach, share of wallet and profitability. Responsibilities include warm and cold prospecting to existing clients and new partners via market research, networking, and utilizing marketing initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have at 5-7 years of proven success in a sales role that included prospecting for new business, conducting discovery, creating sales pitches and proposals, negotiating contracts, collaborating with sales teams and closing deals in order to achieve revenue generation goals. Experience in sales of continuing education or training is preferred. Experience selling into law firms or accounting firms, would be ideal, but not required.
Key responsibilities of a Business Development Manager:
Revenue generation/sales:
- Analyze market trends and identify potential new clients
- Utilize a solution-based selling approach to identify opportunities to cross sell additional products to existing clients.
- Create and execute business development strategies to expand customer base by creating a robust opportunity pipeline.
- Develop compelling business proposals and presentations for potential clients.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts.
- “Hunter” type mentality required
Lead generation:
- Generate leads through prospecting, cold calling, attending industry events, and utilizing marketing initiatives.
Collaboration with sales team:
- Work closely with the sales team to provide support during the sales cycle and ensure smooth transition of new clients to client success team.
Performance tracking and reporting:
- Create a robust opportunity pipeline and maintain accurate account opportunity tracking that focuses on deal confidence and the timing of booked sales and revenue in the client relationship management system (CRM).
Monitor sales performance, track key metrics, and provide regular reports to management. Required skills:
- Excellent communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present ideas and build rapport with clients.
- Networking ability: Proven ability to build and leverage professional networks to identify new business opportunities.
- Sales acumen: Deep understanding of sales processes, including lead qualification, objection handling, closing techniques and territory management.
- Market knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the industry, market trends, and competitor landscape.
- Negotiation skills: Confidence in negotiating contracts and pricing terms to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data and market trends to inform strategic decisions
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience prospecting new business, closing deals and selling continuing education or similar product/service, in a high paced, competitive environment.
Travel Requirements:
- Required for conferences, client meetings and internal meetings - up to 30%.
